Reimann Retked is the biggest company in Estonia offering sea-kayaking trips. We have trips for those who look for romantic tours, for those wishing to get an exciting experience, and for those who are willing to educate themselves about local nature and culture.
Such small islands like in Estonian coastal waters cannot be found elsewhere and the limestone cliff is worth seeing. The best way to explore our natural treasures is to use a sea-kayak.
Diving and sea-kayaking
You can experience two in one and also try diving in some of our sea-kayaking trips. The best diving place is nearby the island of Mohni. Its coastline is attractive for divers as the water gets deep quickly there are interesting bolders to be seen and many fish in the waters .The diving activity is guided by experienced instructors who have also worked in Egyptian waters. Previous diving experience is not needed as the diving takes place together with an instructor after thorough guidance.
Age limit We have sea-kayaks with a third seat in the middle where your child can sit and does not have to paddle. Since children have different levels and speed of develpment, it is difficult to set a certain age limit. We tend to consider preschool children’s behaviour too unpredictable and it is better to leave them home. But also in the case of younger school children it would be wise to consult with the trip instructors first.
Previous experiences Obviously many of you have been to canoe trips. You will benefit of this skill although sometimes the paddling techniques known to you might disturb you while learning to sea-kayak. But also people who lack any experiences with water vehicle can manage very well after some practice. It is the most important that you do not have unreasonable fear towards sea and kayaks.
What you should take with you
Sandals or sneakers that you dare to make wet. You should take into account the fact that at least one person from the two kayakers has to walk into the water whle sitting into the kayak.
A hat to protect you from wind and sun. This advice should be seriously taken into account, since the constant wind in the sea can cause strong headaches. In the case of a bright sunshine you might get sunstroke if you do not have a hat. In case of windy weather you should also consider wearing a skiing hat because then you can be sure that your head will be protected against winds.
Warm underwear. In a hot day it is not important but in a chillier day your comfort depends to a large extent on the undearwear you have. If possible, try to avoid cotton since cotton will suck in water and does not keep warmth. Thus you will have a heavy and wet material against your body. Better hiking clothes are made of water-proof and warmth keeping materials like polyester, polypropylen, etc. This type of underwear is made by several more well-known companies producing sport and hiking clothes.
Wind and water-proof jacket. You will never know what type of weather there will be in the sea and thus you should always have something to protect you from wind and rain.
Extra clothes. One set of extra clothes is almost always needed. While walking on the shore after paddling you might have a need for warm and dry clothes. There are several opportunities to get wet while paddling: careless partner can splutter you with water; an unexpected wave can come over your kayak; strong rain can make you wet; flipping over cannot totally be excluded either (although it happens very seldom). A kayak has storage compartments where clothes will remain dry. Thus you should take one or two sets of warm clothes with you; you do not have to carry them and your your trip memories will depend a lot on the fact how dry clothes you have.
Sun glasses and sun lotion. A sun is especially active in the sea. Being without the sunglasses can hurt your eyes very much. While using sun lotion, you should consider using stronger protection. A water bottle. Although you will be on the water for the most of the time, your body constantly requires water and thus you should have at least a litre of water with you.
